But ALERTLINK takes this emergency communication a step further - a valuable two-way voice feature allows you to talk with the central station, without using your telephone handset, or the central station can talk to you through the console speaker without requiring you to use the telephone. The connection is independent of background noise and the talk/listen-in control is located at the central station, in the hands of people who are specially trained in what to do during different kinds of emergencies. Importantly, ALERTLINK's own capabilities can be expanded to deal with different kinds of emergencies, just by adding accessories. There is a photoelectric smoke detector that, in the presence of smoke or fire, will sound a loud alarm to alert your household and will initiate an automatic fire alarm to alert the central station. And, for extra peace of mind, every ALERTLINK console includes a back-up battery, so you never have to worry about the system being without power in a household power failure.
